I was born in '81. Great truck, although the '84 is a true classic and imo the best body style of a Toyota ever.

Cool pictures! Its funny, a buddy of mine (college roommate) drove his dad's 80 Toyota all through college and actually still has it. I've seen pics of his dad with the truck from that time frame, camped out in the desert watching races just like that. His truck is white though.

                    Re: Back in time...

This had to be about 1987. Fairly stock Fj40, please note the strap the get the J**p up cadillac after a transfer case issue. My lovely Bride-to-be riding shotgun.

Also note the 31" tires and 1" shackle lift. That thing used to cruise through the Rubicon, today it would be questionable. Anyone that says the Rubicon is getting easier does not have a historical perspective.

Whatthehell!?!!?? You no longer own that Toyota??!!? Those things drip coolness.

Thanks for sharing. One of my fellow travelers has a mid eighty-something Toy extended cab solid axle 22RE pickup. It's slow, and sometimes it's really slow. But with the suspension mods it's uncatchable if there is room to get up to speed, and then there's the (lack of) fuel consumption...
