    Oh damn! That sucks. I think that tree was the only thing keeping the idiots from blasting that section to bits. I bet it's a goner now.

        My theory:

        The county wants little sluice blown up, along with some "old time" trail users. The county is stating that this tree is their property and ask we not remove it.
        In the past, if a tree fell on the trail, we were allowed to buck it up and clear the path. This tree fell right over the path to little sluice creating a "gate" that only the county can "open."

        Ya it sucks that a cool, growing at a 45* angle, growing out of granite fell, but it was a tree. And we all know, trees fall.
