I need to buy a nail gun and was wondering what brand and model I should buy. It will be used on one project then will probably not be used for a long time. Don't want to spend to much money but I will not buy harbor freight shit. So what should I buy?

Re: Nail gun brand and model to buy?
Can't go wrong with a Bosch or Senco
Stay away from the battery operated ones if your going to be using it for framing. They work OK for cabinets but they cant drive a 3" nail very far.{o===o}Originally posted by TBS-POPSEXCUSSSSSSE ME oh RUBIMASTER!!! I forgot how Awesome YOU ARE!!! Re: Nail gun brand and model to buy?
That's a tough question... I am new to nail guns as well but recently helped a friend build closet shelves and install wood flooring. There are several different sizes of nail guns and no single company necessarily makes the "best nail guns". For light use I would say probably any name-brand nail gun at your local hardware store. The small Dewalt gun I used seemed good, but I'm sure every carpenter has a varying opinion.SOLD: 1975 Ford Bronco: 105" wheelbase, King 14" c/o shocks, King 2" air bumps w/ Duff arms, 4 link rear w/ coils. Fuel injected 408W, ZF 5 speed/Atlas II(4.3) and Dana 60/70 axles with 5.13 gears and ARB's, 41.5/13.5R17 Pitbull Rockers on 17" Raceline Monsters.

They have framing and finish nailers for rent. Might end up costing you a little less money too. Worth checking out. Re: Nail gun brand and model to buy?
I like the Bostitch framer, it comes with an attachment to shoot Tiko tails (for simpson hangers) I have shot over 50K nails through mine with no problems. I also tried a Porter Cable, it had way less power than the Bostitch but worked good for nailing off sheeting with 8 penny nails.

Re: Nail gun brand and model to buy?
Bet the pawn shops are well stocked with framing guns these days. I stopped in one the other day to look at a compressor and the tool section was packed.
For a one-off project I like to buy good brand/used rather than new/cheap tools
Here's one near you on Craigslist:

Re: Nail gun brand and model to buy?
Those are H-1's and they take a n6-n8 nail (Tico) at only about 1 1/8" at least that is all that is needed. A pair of plyers (to hold the short nail) and a hammer works best on those. Also if they are exposed use galv. nails.
