  • Soda Blasting

have any of you had a problem using soda in a sand blaster. Eastwood sells a conversion kit for $140 seems a little pricey to me. Am going to get mine cleaned up and painted this summer. Thanks

    Re: Soda Blasting

I used a HF 110# pressure blaster. Used a dead-man nozzle rather than their ball valve thing. I've found that a 3/32 or 1/8" tip work well.
I wouldn't want to blast a whole body, but it works okay on smaller stuff or detail work.
I guess the one important thing that makes all the difference in blasting at home is having enough CFM from the compressor. Mine is something like 19CFM @ 90 PSI

See if you got something local like I do that let you do it on their spot.

Mine is a concrete company that has diversified into sandblasting onsite or at their yard. Now they allow customers to come in and do thier own blasting based on an hourly rate. Sand, Soda etc.

My 55 will be hittin this yard before I start turning a wrench on it.
