OK, non-bronco but I am hoping friends might be able to help me out or shoot me in the right direction.
Family from my church is having issues with their 98 SC Gran Prix. While driving yesterday the car shut off and steering wheel locked (she says radio stayed on). Got it to the side, turned key off and back on and it started. Is currently working but she thinks it is making a sound inside the column now when she turns.
I have not gone to look at the car yet, trying to get some ideas on things to look for before I go take a peak. I asked if it had been stolen or attempted stolen before, she said no, then I asked her to take a better look and there are some broken plastics and some exposed wires so physical damage may have occurred.
I am assuming the issue is concentrated on the ig sw but I am not sure if just a ign sw failure would cause the steering wheel to lock. Anyone know how the lock mech is activated?
