  • Hello from Singapore

Greetings from Singapore! I've been here on a detail for a couple days and I have been on the go since we've touched down. I finally get some exploration time. So far it's been pretty cool. Very nice people and a very clean city. The food has been very good to say the least but I must admit, my detail only eats at the finest places. Dinner last night was at a Japanese place and the bill for six of us was over a thousand dollars. It's a good thing I'm not responsible for paying.

One interesting fact is they can only keep vehicles for no longer that 10 years here. They either get scrapped or are shipped out of here for parts. If you keep a car for over the 10 years, it costs at least $75,000 to keep it. Needless to say, I've seen no classic cars here. There are many Ferraris and Lamborghinis and the like here. I'm sure those aren't scrapped but shipped out. Here's a Lamborghini parked at our hotel.

    Re: Hello from Singapore

I spent about a week there several years ago for work. Our hotel was on Orchard Road right in the middle of the shopping district. The consultants we were working with took us on a tour of the island and also sprung for some pretty amazing dinners. Would love to go back some day.

I think car registration is also based on engine displacement. Bigger engine, higher fee.
Capital punishment for drugs and weapons. They don't mess around. I also think porn is illegal because prostitution is legal and regulated. It's been awhile since I've gone to Singapore. You should check out one of the hawker food courts. Great food for just a few bucks.
