How come when the fire dept comes out and does job sight inspections they don't wear the required vest and hard hats?

They are required to follow all the safety rules that the mandated at the Construction site.
They should be wearing their own helmets, either Structural or Wildland. Safety eye and ear equipment too.
Common Sense is not that common anymore... In all professions..

Two OSHA guys came to the power plant I worked at in Alviso a couple years ago. One reused to go get his ID he had left in the car. The security guard (101st Airborne Ret.) would not let him in until he did. One of my (hard) hats here is safety and nobody gets a free pass. "Left your hardhat at the office? Sit in the truck. I'll be back."Just a stock 1966 U13, 170 ci 6 cyl, no kiddin'.
