EB smog requirements?

I'm looking to purchase a EB, and I would like to know what smog concerns I must be aware of. Am looking for a 70 to 77 model, just not sure what year needs what. Thanks in advance for any help. jf

I believe anything 74 and older does not require any smog check. When you buy it you will simply register it. At least thats all I had to do for my 72. Let us know if you need more info then that. FM

Yes, 74 and prior are smog exempt. 75 and up have a few items including evap canister, vacuume tubes, NOX kit (on some), and other misc items like the 2bbl carb, correct timing, ect. Best thing to do if you plan on getting a 75+ is take it to a smog station before you buy it and look it over with the tech. He'll have the manual with all of the requirements

75 Model year is also exempt.

The rolling exemption has been repealed, so under current law 76 & 77 will never be exempt, so I would just avoid those to avoid the headaches.

CA requirements on 76 Bronco:

ACL, thermostatic air cleaner (draws warm air from exhaust man.)
EVAP, fuel evaporative system
OC, oxidizing catalytic converter
FR, fill pipe restrictor
BP/EGR, pack pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve
AIS, air injection system. Not on federal with auto except hi alt Bronco
EVAP-VC, evaporative vapor canister
BP/EGR-BPS, EGR backpressure sensor
EFE, Early Fuel Evaporation

CA requirement on 77 Bronco:

PCV, positive crankcase ventilation
ACL, thermostatic air cleaner (draws warm air from exhaust man.)
EVAP, fuel evaporative system
OC, oxidizing catalytic converter

Mine's a 75, this was a smog year for it in May, did not have to smog . I checked on the State's smog website and it said 75 is now exempt. I havent started taking anything related to smog off yet, still not positive.
