  • my rearend leaks

Nothing worse than leaving a big grease stain behind you..so i got a new gasket for my 9" rearend...it will be my first major adventure on my EB..should I just replace the gasket and oil or should i bite the bullet and rebuild the whole the thing from axle to axle (excluding the thrid member). I am happy with the gearing and it is the original A3 rear axle.

      I've been there.
Didn't like having a leaky rear end.

Buy mine needed some major repairs.

Good time to put new bearings on the rear axle shafts. Be sure to check the u-joints on the driveshaft also since you'll be down there banging your head under it

Big bearing bulges out at the brake backing plate, about an inch wide bulge. The small bearing does not.
