  • Dura spark I

I converted over to duraspark today from points and when I hooked it up I fired it up and the starter stayed engaged and engine and starter wouldn't shut off until I disconnected the wire on the left of the starter solenoid. After some screwing around with the wires I got it to work properly by disconnecting the red wire to the control module. Seems like this should be hooked up. Does anyone have more information on this. It is a duraspark from a 77 I think.

Different color grommets are hooked up differently. White/ red wire start and ign. I dont remember. If I didn't throw them away yet I may have a few boxes and dizzys here in the garage.

It runs the way it is, but maybe I should switch how I had the red and white wires hooked up. Blue grommet on both modules.

Thanks Doug. I will look at it again tomorrow after work.
