    Re: 4 speed question

Not sure, but I would have thought it would be the rearmost lever/arm myself.
Is it in or out of the truck? If it's out, should be an easy thing to determine. Put all of the levers in neutral and then manipulate each one (starting with the rear) and see which way the shafts spin.
You should also be able to tell by which ones have three positions (forward-center-rearward) and which one has only two positions.
I'm only guessing that the reverse lever has only two positions though. Never actually tested that scenario.

    Good luck.
By the way... What does "not np." mean?

The Ford HEH/RUG toploader is a side shifting, top loading 4 speed fully synchronized transmission used from 1965 to 1972 in passenger cars.

In all applications, the shift lever nearest to the bell housing controls the synchronizer nearest to the input shaft. The synchro that selects between the input shaft and the next gear back is the 3-4 synchro.

So the shift lever nearest the bell housing is 3-4.
