  • T-Case pops out.

Work friend has the problem. My advice was to check/lube linkage, including shift rods, first. What has been your experience with this problem??

For me it was weak detent springs on the shift rails of my D20. Popped out on the freeway a few times - not good. Driveline slop can induce the rails to pop out under accelleration/decelleration. Getting rid of my axle wrap problem greatly reduced the frequency in which it would pop out. Stronger detent springs solved it.

My experience is that transmissions (and transfer cases) usually pop out of gear because there is damage to the shift collars or gears. A new stiffer detent spring will help mask the problem for a while, but the detent is not really designed to hold the transmission in gear, it is to let you know you are in gear and hold the forks in the center of the shift collar to prevent shifter fork wear.
