Nickels & dimes - D44 outer stub slinger install tips?

This project is killing me - lots of little unforseen things I never had to do before.

Any tips on installing the slinger on the outer stub for a FW axle? I know it is a press fit, but I don't have a press and the material is pretty thin, don't want to bang on it without some sort of tool that spreads the load out evenly.

I think I used a piece of tubing.

I just used a long punch and light hammering until it was evenly seated.
