  • Electrical Gremlin

So driving at night I noticed when I use the turn signals on the 71 the back light for the auto shifter will go out. Use the signal again and it may come back on.

Thinking it is a Grnd, but where? 74 column, new Turn switch, fresh bulb, rebuilt column.

Any suggestions? Just do not want to tear into the column without a plan.

Sounds more like a loose connection in the signal switch to me. But I'm not even sure where that bulb gets it's ground from. Is it molded right to one of the attaching screws? Screw loose?

I think we're all guilty of having a screw loose!

I would lean more to a mech/elect issue under the steering wheel

Going to be something silly, like a missing plastic washer

I would check the voltage from below first, make sure it isnt some strange issue, maybe even clip a ground to the column... just to be sure.
are your other grounds working properly? I have seen the ground straps corrode or break away more times than I can tell you.
I am simple that way, always try the easiest things first.

Good ground, power to bulb, bulb holder contacts to both surfaces were loose... all good now. Thx all.
