  • Chevy blower motor

I had picked up a Chevy blower motor a while ago, and decided to build my extra heater box today. I test ran it and found the motor is running backwards. I have to put the positive to the case to get it to spin the right way. Anyone seen this before?

Don't you work with those angry pixies? Can't you tell them to go the other direction?

I do, but mine dance back and forth. This constant stream is unruly.

Never heard of that myself. You sure it's going backwards and not just that the squirrel cage/fan cage is not just incorrect for that motor? Did it come with it, or did you install your old one on the new motor?

Pulled the motor and fan together. Maybe I pulled it from the wrong truck. Looks like all the pictures.

When I read the title of your post, I thought you were putting this in your Bronco.

I suppose it could be the wrong motor, but I've never seen any that spun opposite of normal either. I wonder what's going on in there?
And just how do these things know to spin in one direction or the other anyway? I know that's basic electric motor stuff, but I don't know the theory anymore.

Next time make sure the donor vehicle is parked heading south. Those north facing ones have a reverse rotation. East or west you just have to guess!
