  • Output shaft rebuild

Got it apart but dont have the tools to pull the final bearing, or put it back on either. Then shims, and end play are an issue also. Who in Sactown is decent? Edit, Dana 20

    Chucks hardened one going in

    Thanks, Rick-

Heck w/em all at $100+ (1 hr rate) min. I decided since this only has 400 mi on it, I'll just buy an inner bearing for $15 and do it myself. Couldnt find a shop with a press that would do it for a 12 of good beer even. Even a full bearing/gasket rebuild is only $120 from the houses. So I'll borrow a dial ind and I'll get this chit installed this weekend! Then I also have a trail spare w/the bearing on it too!

        :rant off:

Remember to set up new bearings slightly tighter than used bearings because the new bearing will break in. I could tell you how to "feel" for the right preload...The right feel would feel like a nice smooth squishey turn of the shaft...well sort of.
