Separating NP203 reduction box from main case

A bit stuck - there is a shift rod between the gear reduction box and the main case, can't get at it to cut it, and can't get the rear yoke off. Any ideas?

I used a sawzall with a long blade on it to get in there and cut it. Worked great.

well, mine must be made of unobtainium 'cuz all I have now are some dull blades and a relatively unmarred shift rod. Might be time for the hot wrench.


Edit: annealed the rod with a torch to bright orange and cut it right after that like butter.
