  • SM 420 mated to Ford SB...possible?

In looking for a granny 4 speed, I found a guy I work with that has an SM 420 that he doesn't want. This is a free transmission that I just have to change bearings in. Is it possible to find or make parts to adapt it to a Ford small block.

The easiest way to make that work... sell that tranny and buy an NP435.

It does seem like somewhere I read about somebody doing this swap but the NP435 is such a bolt-in that it would be worth trading for.

The 420 has an awesome 1st gear, but they are a little weak. That is why chevy switched to the 465. My buddy with a cj5 has gone through three, and he has an odd fire six in his Jeep.
I would get it, re-bearing it, and sell it like Tony said.

That was kind of what I was thinking. It seems that Novak and Advance adapters both sell kits to adapt any engine to an transmission except this combination. I guess I will see how much I can get for this tranny and go from there.

435 to a chevy is easier, just drill two holes.
