What are some of the things have you done to help your 9" survive? Anybody of you use one of these from Jegs?

Yes, but you don't want that one.
You want one that goes from wheel bearing to wheel bearing.
Places like shaffer off road will torchmate out the truss for you that goes from bearing to bearing.

Mine ended up being about 1-1.5 from the bearings.

so when you weld one on you stitch it for a bit and let the whole thing cool and then stitch some more?

Yes, medium heat stitch welds about 2" each. Took me about 4-5hours to complete.

Every 9 inch I've ever seen was bent too.
I preload them by chaining them to a big ass I beam, then I just weld away.

I love the directions - " Stop every once in a while and check for bending " - doesn't say much about what to do if you find it!

I put my D60 on my trailer, on jackstands and used a ratchet binder to preload it when I welded on the truss. It ended up straighter than when I pulled it from the donor truck.

I don't have a cool linked bronco, so what do you do about the u-bolts? Leave a slot I assume?

Most hot rod guys run a truss or brace, what ever you want to call it, across the back of there 9"s, not the top like a link mounting point. You can go from end to end that way & still have no problems with the spring mounts.
