  • Carburetor Climatic Control

I replaced my carburetor (stock FoMoCo for rebuilt FoMoCo) and the new one does not have an electric Climatic Control.

What does that thing do, do I care if I now have the one that has a heat tube that is not hooked up? where would I hook it up if I wanted to? or should I swap out the new for the old electric one?

I believe what you're referring to is the choke? If so, just swap the electric one inplace of the hot air one and cap off the hot air nipple on the choke housing (rubber vaccum cap works fine). Hook the wire up to a "keyed on" 12V power source and you're good to go. This is exactly what I did on my Q-jet.

Sorry, you have to live in California to get any answers on this board!

Just kidding bud. How the heck are you? I am not any help here as I know nothing about carbs.

Please update your location so we all can envy your departure from Kalifornia

Exhaust manifold vacuum preheat - if you do not have it attached and looped back from the drvrs side exhaust manifold then cap off the male threaded portion on the carb. there is vacuum being pulled in that port.

Swap the electric choke cover onto the new carb

what you need is a block heater and heated seats. I was stationed in Seattle for 3 years....it gets cold

Dump it, go slap on a manual choke kit.

                          Re: Carburetor Climatic Control

FWIW I don't run a choke on my Motorcraft 2100, but I'm usually not in a hurry to get going either. On the trail or at home I usually warm it up first - the choke doesn't seem to do much at idle, it mainly prevents stumbling when you first get going on a cold engine.

Part of this is based on my desire to have as few gizmos and wires as possible. Might be wrong.
