          Re: 73 Bronco Project

I decided to pull the tub completely and start from the frame up. I also decided on where I will be going with the project. I am going to build a full buggy, but retain the sealing doors, full size hardtop, and fullsize hood.

I need to measure out the width of a stak or atlas case to see if I am going to keep the factory framerails at all. They are full of holes and bad fabrication from previous owners. The np205 output is also trying to make love in the club with my c6's pan and linkage, so I wont get the uptravel that I want. An atlas or stak case is kinda out of the budget right now, so I am thinking about running a 2 pc front driveshaft to work around that issue. The output for a 205 is just so damn close to the pan on the c6.

I am shooting for a belly height of 19-20", a rocker height of 28-30", wheelbase about 104", and an overall height of under 78". All with keeping 8" of uptravel and room for 4 people.

Sweet Tcase Mounting! (although, I have to admit I cut out the hole for the pto cover so that the mount would sit on the face properly... they just used 3 stacked washer on each bolt before..)

          Rust repair in the rockers:

Can anyone tell me if these shock mounts are factory? They sure dont look it.

Which steering box does this look like?

Drop mounts for the radius arms...

WOW! What a start. I am confused about the full buggy with hard top? A full buggy to me is a whole tubed chassis. Why would you want the weight of the hardtop on a buggy? Are you still going to make it street legal? I am only asking these questions to maybe give you some ideas that might help.

No, no, no grasshoppa. That is a 78/79 4x4 box. The 78/79 4x4x2 box has the pitman arm facing rearward because of the worm gear swap. Geez, youngters these days.

Boy this project has changed directions from the start. It usually takes someone a few years to go this crazy. Should be a fun project to watch. I am not throwing any stones as my build is less than typical.

Yes, it is going to stay street legal (except tire coverage laws, of course). Yes, it will be a full tube chassis (deciding on the frame still). I want to keep the hardtop and door sills for the weather-sealing function. If I was single and didnt have a family, I would build a narrow buggy with an alum skinned roof and be done. Instead, I have a family and I would like them to enjoy the bronco, so it will be a wider tube buggy and retain the hardtop and doors.

The more I dig, the less I like how previous owners have modified/fixed things.

71BRONCO71 needs to lose his red text privileges...

Camomog... Im not all that new to modifying vehicles, this is all in stride for me!

It does look like a 4x4x2... but it is really a 4x4 BB box

I guess if I was sooner, I could have told him it looked just like mine.
Those look like some scary drop brackets for the radius arms.
